When I moved to Colorado from Alabama, I didn't know anyone. I had three flight attendant roommates and I quickly found out that I didn't get along particularly well with any of them. Who they were in training, was not who they were when it came to living together. I didn't have much money at the time, so I found the one thing that was always free to do in Colorado - hike. The outdoors became my escape from my roommates and grounded me from my otherwise crazy life up in the sky. I met my (now) husband several months later, and we started hiking together and he introduced me to my first Colorado 14er (a peak with a prominence of over 14,000 feet of which Colorado has 58). Hiking quickly became my passion and I soon realized I loved sharing my new hobby with others. I started planning 14er hiking and camping trips for our friends so they could experience the magic of the outdoors. I'd find myself charging ahead of the group on the mountain...energized by the fresh air and excitement of leading. Several years later I turned my love of hiking into a business by combining adventure and yoga into a retreat format. I also have a love for photography and started sharing photos on social media. When acquaintances would see my photos from my weekend adventures, they would inquire if they could share my next adventure with me. Of course, I didn't have time to arrange adventures for everyone, so charging for my time became a way I could travel, hike and get paid to explore. My first retreat I hosted was in Telluride in 2014 and I learned so much from the experience. I didn't have a website or logo or even a way to take payments other than checks. What you see today....from this website to my photos is a culmination of years of hard work and bringing my dreams to light.
Where do I see myself in 5 years? Hopefully right here on the edge of a cliff overlooking a beautiful valley. I hope to stay full of wonder and excitement surrounded by a great group of clients.
I get it, your time is valuable and you have loved ones at home awaiting your return from your adventure. I promise I'll make your time worth it. You deserve it for all you do!
My two vizslas Stevie and Buck keep me busy and inspire me to get out every day. I named them after the queen of rock and a nod to her first band Buckingham Nicks. If you don't know already, I'm a huge Stevie Nicks/Fleetwood Mac fan. They are hands down my favorite band and artist and I would travel anywhere to see Stevie in concert.
